Dr James Riddell, complete a Bachelor of Science (BSc) majoring in Biochemistry and Microbiology (Otago) 1988 before converting to Medicine. He graduated MBChB (Otago) 1993. Diploma in Occupational Medicine (DipOccMed) (Auckland) 2001. He subsequently moved from Wellington, NZ, to Canberra in 2003 to complete Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) specialising in Gastroenterology.
Following conferment of Fellowship he undertook the role of Chief Medical Registrar at The Canberra Hospital in 2004/2005. He was appointed Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at Calvary Healthcare ACT engaging in General Medicine and Gastroenterology from early 2005. Private rooms and practice located at Suite 14, The Calvary Clinic, allowing a mix of public and private consulting and endoscopy. He was appointed VMO at The Canberra Hospital, 2008, as a member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service and Multi-disciplinary team.
He is the Immediate past-Chairman, Division of Medicine, Calvary Public Hospital and is the incoming Chairman of the Medical Staff Council, Calvary Healthcare, ACT as well as being chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Calvary Private Hospital.
Main interests include general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, upper and lower gastro-intestinal endoscopy and internal medicine.
